I cannot tell you how excited I am to find a writing program for Mac! Okay, I did not find it; it found me. No, I did not get this program for free, unless you count the free trial everyone gets. The program happened to backlink to one of my NaNoWriMo posts and, of course, I followed to see where it would lead. I am glad I did!
There are tons of free programs available for PC, but it can [sometimes] be a daunting task to find a really great program for Mac. Well, I do not know if it is really great, but after watching the overview of the program I have very high hopes.
Scrivener is a word processor and project management tool created specifically for writers of long texts such as novels and research papers. It won’t try to tell you how to write – it just makes all the tools you have scattered around your desk available in one application.
Be sure to check out the online overview
This was a wonderful way to see the main features of the Scrivener before downloading and muddling through it.
Oh, if you are participating in NaNoWriMo and would like to be my writing buddy, that would be *awesome*! Just friend me.

I kept coming across Scrivener when looking for my own writing program and feeling bitter that I couldn’t use it. Hope you like it. Grumble…. lol

I already downloaded it and it looks promising. Now to start adding my outline and characters and other random thoughts in preparation. Only 3 more days! Woo Hoo!
I so shared your joy at discovering Scrivener, then immediately felt an immense and probably undeserved loathing towards Microsoft Word because I’m now of the opinion that while it might work for some aspiring novelists, it doesn’t for me. It’s for office documents and for people with what you might call an office mentality, really. Scrivener is making my participation in NaNoWriMo very pleasurable, and it just… makes sense in how it organises things, like it truly understands a writer’s needs from a word processor. I’m definitely going to purchase it when the competition is over, I can’t see myself ever doing without it from now on!

I could not agree more. In fact, I have been writing scenes that will be put together as I see them linking and could not imagine using such a simplified writing tool such as MS Word to do this. I do plan to buy the program as well, but will wait to see if I win first. Might as well save money where I can, although I find the $40 price more than fair.
Now back to the inkwell, so to speak.

Cool! I’m so glad you are liking that! I came across it when searching for a program to use during NaNo. It sounded spectacular and I was harumphified upon discovering it is only for a Mac. Knowing it makes you happy cushions the blow.
